Listen to Our Residents and Reflect Their Views
Why are you running for town council?
Our neighborhood is impacted by the community around us…from a recent criminal burglary ring that touched Weddington to the creeks that carry sediment building in our lake. Each new subdivision or text amendment impacts our local life. I believe I can influence positive change through measured means. I’m a concerned citizen trying to have a positive impact on our local community.
What have I done in weddington?
advocating for weddington at town council
Suggested adding audio speakers to the outside porch to give the overflow crowd the ability to hear the Town Hall meeting
Voiced concerns on Classica Homes land pitch and run-off to the creek that enters Bromley
Opposed changes to Downtown Overlay through text amendment modifications (see speech)
Objected to Deal Lake proposal based on parallels to Bromley's Mundorf Lake health
Requesting a text amendment change to our Ordinances to ban Door to Door Commercial Solicitation (not religious, nonprofit, or political).
working together
I launched Weddington Watch to build a unified network of Weddington Neighborhoods to share crime alerts, safety tips, and prevention tactics.
28 neighborhoods are now represented.
A TIPS sheet has been created and shared online.
A WhatsApp network is being launched for real-time crime alerts and updates.
Hold Quarterly Meetings on Neighborhood Incidents to keep residents aware
This evolved into Strengthened Communication With-in and Outside of Bromley.
Regular Meetings with Law Enforcement & Attending Town Council Meetings
Monthly Newsletter with Safety Updates
Deepening Ties to Management Company to keep us informed of complaints, cars, etc.
Creating a Neighborhood Directory to foster community and neighborhood watch
Reinvigorated the Social Committee & Welcoming Neighbors. Fostering Community is preventative
In Bromley, I’ve initiated a Safety and Security Committee, starting with a risk assessment and then implemented car and walking patrols of the neighborhood as well as added neighborhood watch and surveillance signs. After interviewing law enforcement and other neighborhoods effected by the crime ring, I developed a TIP Sheet to inform Bromley residents of how to protect themselves.
I’ve been working in my neighborhood to arrange more social events, bringing cohesion and familiarity to our streets, as well as a directory to identify neighbors and build relationships.
